Concert competition for carnatic music

NATIONAL LEVEL MUSIC CONCERT COMPETITIONS
AT
CHOWDAIAH MEMORIAL HALL

This is regarding the annual music competition for the year 2010.


GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. The Carnatic Concert competition will be conducted for all in the age group10 to 30 yrs. The age as on Aug 2010.
2. There shall be two prizes declared in each category. A cash price of Rs.5000/- for first prize and Rs. 4000/- for second prize and all the four winners will be given a Lobby concert for a privileged set of audience in the annual festival of CHOWDAIAH MEMORIAL HALL between 24th Nov 2010 to 28th Nov 2010
3. The categories are as follows
CARNATIC CLASSICAL VOCAL
CARNATIC CLASICAL INSTRUMENTAL (Veena/violin/flute)
Please note: Percussion instruments are not considered here.
4. The competitions will be conducted in two levels. The elimination level and the final level.
5. Candidates should follow the rules laid to participate
6. The decisions of the judges are final and irrevocable.
7. TA will be borne for the candidate and one guardian to attend the final round in the premises of Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore.

11. The candidates short listed for the final round should bring their own instruments (like tambura / shruthi box, and other instruments) for the competition. Only the accompaniments will be provided.
12. The timings for the finals will the informed to the short listed candidates after the elimination round
13. If there are less than 10 entries for the competition then the competition may be abolished.










Rules for the competition

Elimination round

1. Candidates should be in the age group of 10 to 30 yrs as on aug 2010
2. For Elimination Level the participants are requested to send audio recording of their performance of duration 20mins. (CD or Audio Tape).
3. The candidates should send one composition (compositions of trinities only) in their own renditions with a ragalapana, neraval and swara prastaara.
4. A complete Biodata, a certificate from the institution or the guru where the participant is learning music from, authorized age proof, passport size photograph and the CD/cassette legibly labeled with all the details of the candidate should reach Chowdiah memorial hall before 15th august 2010. Entries reaching after the last date will strictly not be considered. If any of the documents above mentioned are not submitted the candidate shall be disqualified to participate in the competition.
5. The rules of the Final round will be intimated to the short listed candidates and they have to appear for the final round to be held at Chowdiah memorial hall in the last week of September 2010.
